I added all of the prices up from newegg and other sites and came to a price of $2659.91 but that is excluding all of the DVD/CD Drives and all of that fun stuff.

Okay people, I'll probably get rated down for saying this, but Vista is not a horrible angry monster. If you don't have the proper specs (those crappy 512mb RAM machines on the market), yes it'll suck. SP1 also made a bit of improvements to the system. I bet half the people saying Vista is terrible have never used it before. If you still want crossfire, Gigabyte has some very good motherboards
Yes it's a good build, though I ask why you're getting a AMD X4 instead of a quad core, which uses less power and is potentially more overclockable (depends on model).
I don't think you'll need 8GB of RAM unless you do some heavy duty editing.
I would recommend against the Raptors. It seems like you have a bit of cash to spend, so wait a month and get the new Velociraptors, which support SATA300. They're available from Alienware this month and should be in stores next.
Other than that, it looks good.
