What type of amp should I get for my new bass guitar?

I just bought a cheap bass, and I’m looking for a practice amp. Can I use a regular guitar amp (in case I decide to switch to electric guitar) or should I defiantly get a bass amp?

Concerning the unsure outcome of playing bass or guitar: You can play guitar through a bass amp, but not bass through a guitar amp. It's a one way street. So get the bass amp.

Since I don't know how interested you are in bass, getting a cheap small amp could give you a horrible sound and be a complete turnoff. Get something decent. You don't have to spend top dollar, but go to a local shop, a Guitar Center if you have one around, and try things out. You'll run across something you like. If you think it's too expensive, get the name and model and look it up online. Win/win

At one time travelling by plane was only for the rich and famous while the less fortunate had to settle for land or sea routes. Today cheap plane flights are more easily available and have leveled the playing field making the world a smaller place for everyone.

Here are a couple of do's and don'ts you may find helpful if you are looking for cheap flights:

Do Plan Ahead

When you can plan in advance for the family vacation, you can save a lot of money on travel flights. Airlines offer periodic sales where you can book in advance and save a bundle. If you can set your dates, a travel agent can get you a great sale for that summer vacation in the dead of winter.

You can also consider racking up those credit card miles to get you a great rate on cheap plane flights. Instead of using cash for the next six months, charge it and pay it off at the end of the month. Probably one of the best deals you can find, is purchasing cheap plane flights during a holiday sale. Simply book during the sale and set your dates for a later time.

Don't Settle for the First Deal you Find

Shop around; there are hundreds of online travel companies now. You can find a great deal on just about every site, but it can sometimes come down to the fine print. Two companies will offer the same fare, but when you read the fine print one may require additional fees that can completely change the scenario.

You also need to consider that some airlines charge for extra baggage and even baggage check-ins. If the company you are thinking about has these fees, keep looking. Some companies offer package deals as well. It can often be said that booking a cheap plane flight with hotel is the best option. Just make sure you verify the details. How much would the flight and hotel each cost on their own? Do your research. As they say, the pot of gold is always around the next corner.

As you can see its a intermediate setup, the problem I've been having is cabling it together the rack system, I bought about 20 Patch cables (Low-z) they are different colors so that I can tell each connection apart, but when I try everything together im getting no signal or sometimes very low volume. Would I need Hi-z's for my application? Also can someone please tell me the best way to set up my rack gear (order, tips, etc.)

No, it's not your patch cables. If you have high impedance signals running across a low impedance cable, they remain high impedance, and you're not going to worry about impedance mismatches at audio frequencies all that much anyway, unless you have a mile or more of cable in there.

I'd rig up something really simple.. try feeding a line level signal (from a tape deck, iPod, etc) directly to your preamp, and ensure you have a no problems there (you should keep a box full of at least one of any possible cable handy at all times... I know right where that dual 1/4" to stereo 1/8" cable is, I could find two or three in five minutes... and this is before I clean up my home office/studio).

Then, work it back your board, ensuing you don't have your input levels set for mics on line-level inputs, ensuring you don't have anything muted or soloing (it's surprising how many buttons get pressed when a piece of gear is moved and then set up), check the output level settings, check for activity at your VUs, etc.
