How do I drill out a crawl space lock (no key)?
I moved into my house and did not get a key for the crawl space door. It is approximately 18"x24" metal door with a simple metal bar that turns away from frame to drop open.
I am trying not to call a locksmith, but need in crawl space for repair. Thanks!!
I looked for the serial numbers early on (have locksmith at work who can use codes to make a new key) and there are none - would've been an easy fix. Checking on costs of locksmith... still $$
$40 an hour plus labor, ouch!
You can use a 1/4 inch drill bit and drill directly into the keyhole. This will remove the tumblers and when youre through use a small flat head screwdriver to turn the actual locking mechanism inside. Youll know when you get through the tumblers so dont worry. It'll sort of give.

I've been seeing these things called kite wings, they are sort of like hang gliders, but they can't really "fly" they are more just to be combined with other sports such as skiing, in order to get alot more airtime.
Well as much as I would love to have one, they are too expensive. Does anyone have any ideas of materials, plans, etc. That I can use to build something similar for as cheap as possible. Not expecting to "fly" or anything, but it would be nice if I could build something without too much cost or effort that will allow me to say, run and jump down a steep hill and just glide to the bottom, or jump off the roof of my house and slow my fall enough to not get hurt.
In case any of those designs are too pricey or complicated, my 2nd choice project would be building a kite strong enough to lift me 5-10 feet off the ground.
Any help would be appreciated.
PS: I understand the dangers, I'm not some reckless teenager, I'm a grown man.

How do I tactfully tell someone who is very sheltered & immature that I'd rather they didn't follow me?
I am 24 years old and have just started an undergrad degree and I am amongst students who are 18 years old. On my course is a very sheltered innocent girl who is highly extrovert, somewhat domineering and very shallow. All fantastic qualities to have in abundance... not.
Now - because she's on the same course as me, she has latched onto me. I want my own freedom to study on my own in a corner away from others from time to time. It is beyond her comprehension that someone could be different from her- funny considering we're both studying psychology.
What can I do to signal that I want my own space. I fear a complete lack of understanding if I'm direct, and if I say nothing, the situation will worsen and I will flip.
I'm very embarrassed over how ridiculous the situation is.
Does anyone have any good advice with how to deal with this type of a situation?
Just be straight with her, that's the only way it will work. You can say this with kindness & still make it work.
Excuses on the go for everyday anoying people:
"hey nice seeing ya, sorry I can't talk right now I have allot of work and I really need to be alone to concentrate" <-- use as often as you want, works even better close to finals.
Other excuses - "sorry *smile* I can't talk right now, promised to meet a friend, I'll see you in class!" (walk away fast and turn to a jog).
If she sits next to you in class try coming in late and this way you are able to select a spot with her not in it. If there is a new project where you may need to team up, jump at the chance to join someoen else. Tell her you want to spend some time with other class mates & get to know them..
