Hi. I waqs just wondering if I can put Formica on an old huge wood desk?
I just bought this wooden conference desk that is in it's original condition, which is excellent with just minor fading. However, I bought it to use it as a craft table for rubber stamping and scrapbooking workshops. The room is lavender with white trim and all my other furniture in the room is a bright white. I've been told I am crazy for wanting to refinish this piece but I did not buy it for an heirloom, I bought it to serve a purpose and I am a real matchy-matchy type of person....... Can someone help me out with this? I would like to know if I can cover the desk with Formica laminate? I know that this is what they use on countertops and this tends to hold up forever. Any help with this and/or a referral in the Cleveland, Ohio area would be great!!! Thanks so much for your time. Nicole : )
Yes, you can adhere Formica (laminate) to the top of the desk. You can order a piece after looking through the samples of laminate at your local home center store. You are shopping for the flexible sheet of laminate and not the pre-formed counter top. When you order, bring along the dimensions so that you order a piece large enough to cover the top with a bit extra all around. The desk top must be smooth and flat and sanded and ready for the laminate installation.
The Formica is adhered with a contact type cement and you can easily find the installation instructions online. You will need to trim the laminate with a router with a laminate bit to clean the edges. If you pay attention to proper preparation and have the right tools on hand (you can rent them) you can complete this project yourself.

1999 Ford Taurus cracked block??
ok this is going to be long. I bought this car cheap cause it needed a rack and pinion. Drove good for 3 months, but no heat.I went to replace the thermostat and noticed washers under one bolt and when putting it back together noticed the bolts were stripped. I took it imedietlly to a shop 2 miles from my house to be repaired.He tapped them out,no coils,and gave me the car back.It started running warm,i put water and saw a leak around the therm. housing.He looked at it said it was a bad gasket and gasve it back to me.My girl drove it,told me it was still running hot.Gave it back to him late on a friday, he coldnt fix it it was too late but said it was a warped housing.In need of the car i took it back went to repair it noticed a flat spot on the housing,replaced it then while checking all fluids before going on a trip noticed the milky oil, new it was screwed.He says its in no way his fault.The car was brought to him for bolts, but then for the LEAK which he never repaired.WHOSEFAULT
Driving any car that is overheating will cause the block to crack. Regardless of the origin of the overheating problem, it should never have been driven. Sorry, your fault.

How do I get the GT/Driving Force Pro to work with my PC?
I have a PC running Windows XP and I also have the Driving Force Pro(I call it GT Force Pro, and I think so does the box). I have some games on my PC that would appreciate a steering wheel. How do I get the steering wheel to work with my XP Desktop?

With windows, you usually need to get and install the driver for the controller. Just google "XP driving force pro driver" and you'll find it. Softpedia probably has it.
The DF Pro is an extremely popular wheel, made by the best wheel-maker, Logitech. It's the next step up from the GT/Driving force that was made for Gran Turismo 3. I have a GT Force that my linux-running pc recognizes as soon as I plug it in, support is built into the kernel. There is definitely support in Windows XP as well, that probably includes a device driver though.
Besides XP supporting it, the game itself has to support it. Most good driving games will support a wheel, but there are some crappy ones that won't.
That game you are planning on getting, is that a truck driving simulator? I doubt even the logitech wheels have enough force feedback to simulate an 18-wheeler, unless it has power steering

How to reinstall OEM windows on E-system 3083 laptop ?
Hi folks. Ive got a PC World E-System 3083 laptop that got a hal.dll problem. Ive re-installed another windows over the original one, but to no avail. The machine has a partition that contains the OEM system, but I dont know how to get to it. Which buttons/sequence do I have to press on startup to get into the OEM partition to reinstall the original windows?

when the pc is off turn it on by pressing the power button, immediately after you press the power button start tapping the F10 button and keep tapping until the recovery menu appears, select a full format (destructive recovery) and follow the instructions for this option. destructive does not mean it will break anything, it means it will remove all data and start again from scratch, this is always the best option and the one needed if you have installed a different copy already, it will remove the other copy of windows totally and reinstall your proper copy, you will probably need to enter the windows product key, it is on a greenish sticker probly on the back or side of the case, write it down carefully so you will have it incase it asks you for it, do this before you start the reinstallation
